Description: In this sculpture, the question mark is not just a symbol — it is a battlefield. A symbol of a mind that dares to question, while lurking beneath is the shadow of danger and aggression. A predatory form crouches beside the mark, suggesting that the realm of answers may not be safe. ‘The Sting of Doubt’ is both a tribute to the courage of inquiry and a warning about the risks it carries.

At first glance, the sculpture appears to be a simple question mark. But this is no ordinary mark — it is alive, sculpted from raw, textured wood, visibly wounded, and noticeably incomplete. The terminal dot is missing, eroded, or perhaps intentionally withheld.

The Sting of Doubt is about the courage to think — about beginning a question that, once asked, may invite peril or pain. On one side, a rising, curved question form stretches upward; on the other, a crawling beast, with an open, menacing mouth, lurks in wait — suggesting that every question is also an affront to entrenched beliefs.

The ceramic shard at the head of the question form evokes the fragility of the inquiring mind. The vivid yellow in the predator’s mouth is a warning: danger is always near. This piece meditates on the thin line between skepticism and safety — between the need to know and the fear of knowing.

Ultimately, The Sting of Doubt is not merely a sculpture — it is a philosophical stance. Do we dare to ask, even if the answer unsettles our peace? In a world saturated with power and dogma, can questioning survive
