Description: A human figure nestled in a hollow form, representing an inescapable pit. The curvature of the wood serves as both refuge and entrapment. The metallic chain around the neck symbolizes the inescapable personal and social constraints binding the individual.

In the Hollow of Determinism is a sculptural meditation on the quiet entrapment of the modern human. The figure—bent, enclosed, seemingly at rest—initially evokes peace or surrender. But a closer look reveals the metal chain around its neck, exposing an unspoken tension: the pressure of invisible forces.

These forces may be external — social, political, economic — or deeply internal: fear, memory, habit. The use of natural materials like wood and metal emphasizes this intersection of nature and society, self and system.

There is no screaming here, no resistance. Instead, there is stillness — a heavy, thoughtful stillness. This is not a sculpture of defeat, but of confrontation. A figure caught between endurance and resignation.

This work invites us to confront the subtle ways we are shaped, bound, and silenced. Not through violence, but through familiarity. The curve of the body becomes a metaphor for quiet survival — for the invisible compromises we make every day, just to go on.
