Description: This piece hides domination and violence behind a shield, yet the weapon of deceit (a mace) in the concealed hand exposes the truth. It visually portrays a lie disguised as truth, and the fallen human beneath its weight.

This sculpture is a sharp and layered portrayal of dominance masked as legitimacy. A figure—shielding its face with a wooden panel—stands over a fallen, helpless body. The club in its hand is not only a weapon but a symbol of ideologized violence: a tool cloaked in justification, tradition, or righteousness.

The masked figure lacks identity; it could be anyone, or no one. This facelessness evokes a chilling idea: power without humanity. The shield conceals not just a face, but intention, and in doing so, reveals the true nature of deceit.

The collapsed body below speaks of exhaustion, resignation—not mere defeat, but systemic erasure. There’s no struggle, no cry, only a presence that accuses in silence.

In metaphorical terms, this sculpture calls out the false gods of our time — whether they wear the robes of religion, patriotism, or law. Their divinity is constructed through fear, and sustained by myths. And yet, the work itself insists:

That which hides behind a shield, has something it cannot bear to be seen
